The truth about why you’re failing with dropshipping. Gurus will advertise it as the easiest thing in the world. Find some products, launch some ads and gamble your money away until you find a magic winner. Then you get financial freedom and Ferraris. However, that’s not the case and all of that is evident by the high number of dropshippers who fail. It’s not an easy ride and the thing is, most people quit because they become fed up with dropshipping. The fact that you’re bound to lose money at the start, encounter many issues, go through many products without a winner, etc.
Most sites and gurus say people fail because they have a bad store, bad product, bad ads, etc. That’s all nonsense. They can all be fixed quite quickly and they can also be learned through theory and experience since all of that is on YouTube, courses, with mentors, etc.
The common denominator between all these failing dropshippers, is the mindset. We live in a world of instant gratification. This is whereby we believe we do something and we get the benefits of that thing within pretty much, an instant. To put this as an example, it’s like playing your first football game and expecting to win player of the month, etc from that one match, or in dropshipping terms testing one or two products and expecting to find a winner and profit quickly. Things don’t work like that and unfortunately, many gurus have gotten people to think like that.
These gurus advertise it as “you just find this product (might be a clock for example) then list it on Shopify, run some ads, and boom 10 20 orders a day 6 figures a year. It’s making money while you sleep, whilst your out shopping, driving, etc.” This is part of an actual copy done by a dropshipping guru. Let me break things down for you. If it were that easy, why isn’t everyone doing it?
Why Mindset Is Key
Edinson made 200 prototypes before the dawn of the light bulb. Dyson made thousands of prototypes before his bagless vacuum became a success. Micheal Jordan missed thousands of shots before he scored one. Tom Brady has gone through struggles, so has Ronaldo, so has Senna.
Dropshipping is nowhere near as hard as football. Or soccer, or science, or complex engineering, etc. Dropshipping requires a lot less investment in all honesty. Yet so many people fail at it because they become impatient. Do you think after one bad game or so, Micheal Jordan was going to give up? No. He carried on and on till he won multiple NBA titles.
What I’m on about is not giving up when things get tough. When things don’t work your way, which in dropshipping is common, don’t give up. Sounds simple right? Try to put that into practice and get back to me. For most people, this is hard. Maybe one or two hardships they’re ok but after that, most show their true colors. So many people nowadays want to be entrepreneurs, yet the issue is in the sentence. “So many” cannot be entrepreneurs since being straight here, the road to success is like SAS training. At the start, everyone’s hyped but when the challenges come, the excuses start. About 125 start SAS training yet, only 10 trainees pass.
Part of that 125, quit. They quit because it’s too hard. They quit because it’s not what they expected. They quit because they feel like they’re not good enough. The SAS don’t care how good you are. They care about you not giving up, they care about resilience and commitment, as that builds trust. Business is war without bullets and you need to be ready for that.
You need to prepare for this. You need to know that business and success isn’t just some straight line to success. You also need to know that just following a blueprint course or whatever, isn’t enough. These things won’t guarantee your success no matter what the ad copy on the course’s website, etc says. You need to be bold in order to succeed. Take risks and don’t look back. Be comfortable with losing first before you can win.
The Gurus Are Liars
The Gurus are liars. Most of these YouTubers and influencers talk nonsense. They inject false hopes and dreams into desperate people. Then these desperate people give up when they’re so close to success. They see these gurus who say it’s easy etc then they feel disheartened after they haven’t found a winner after testing a few products. They think it’s so easy that you only need to dedicate an hour per day to the business etc but in reality, if you want to succeed, you’re going to need to dedicate more than triple of that per day to your business.
These people who went from position A to position B in X amount of months, either lie or, they worked damn hard. It’s so easy to point-blank lie to you nowadays. Pay people to give testimonials, rent apartments, rent nice cars, clothes, watches, etc. Most people are selling you what you can get free on YouTube which is stupid. Some people offer free courses on YouTube, and they’re far more valuable than 99% of these paid courses.
Then there are mentorship schemes. So many mentors scam and scam their students by lying about figures, teaching them nonsense, etc. Some mentors are real whilst others are scamful.
However, most of them will tell you that dropshipping is hard. Either to inject some reality or to tell you straight, it’s not for the weak.
I find too many people are starting businesses nowadays. That’s great, but the word “too many” and “success” don’t go together. Only a few succeed and they succeed by being bold and different. They tackle every hurdle out there regardless of what it is. If you want to succeed, there is one key ingredient you need.
Consistency.
Do something consistently, you’ll get better at it. Consistently work on your business, and you’ll succeed.
