Mr Beast is a name everyone seems to know nowadays. He is by far the most popular YouTuber right now and he has been crushing it for the last few years. Jimmy Donaldson, known as Mr Beast on YouTube started his channel back in 2012 uploading mainly Minecraft videos. Nowadays though some of the videos he uploads are beyond bizarre. For example, one of his most recent videos is titled “I Uber’d people and let them keep the car” and his most popular video with 110 million views, “I put 100 million orbeez in my friends back yard.” Mr Beast then is one very weird individual but with 52.3 million subscribers, he is the second-highest-paid YouTuber after nine-year-old Ryan Kaji.
MrBeast has rapidly risen to fame in the last two to three years and that’s thanks to all of his weird challenges that often involve cars, expensive items, food, and health. However, how did he become so wealthy? There are plenty of YouTubers with similar subscriber figures who are nowhere near as rich as MrBeast.
His first viral video appeared in 2017 and it was “counting to 100,000” which earned him millions of views. After this, he did counting to 200,000. Those videos got tens of millions of views. Nobody else would have made these videos at all as that sort of stuff takes dedication and stepping out of the comfort zone. MrBeast stepped out of his zone and now he lives a crazy life making crazy content with his friends. Stuff that sounds clickbait but really it isn’t. He makes enjoyable content that is loved by the masses of people, mainly young students.
The 22-year-old has also signed some lucrative partnerships including one with TikTok and another with Honey, a company that was recently acquired for $4 billion. Furthermore, he gets a lot of money from YouTube advertisements and merch. He is described as a “viral video making machine” which is something that YouTube wants to pay millions for.
So let’s look into MrBeast more in-depth and see why his strategy of making weird content, merch, and partnerships has worked really well.
He Has Seven Channels Each With Over a Million Subscribers
MrBeast has seven YouTube channels with each of them having over one million subscribers. His main channel, Mr Beast, has 52.7 million subscribers. His second-highest channel, MrBeast Gaming has 14.2 million subscribers. His third most popular channel BeastReacts has 4.16 million subscribers, then after that is his fourth channel, MrBeast Shorts has 4.04 million subscribers. Then his fifth most popular channel, MrBro, has 3.09 million subscribers. His sixth channel MrBeast 2 has 1.81 million subscribers with finally his seventh channel with no uploads at all, Beast Philantrophy has 1.51 million subscribers.
MrBeast then has a lot of subscribers across all of his network of channels. He then has his own merch store which makes him around $50,000 to $75,000 per day. His YouTube videos make him around $40,000 upwards per video. His yearly earnings off YouTube are somewhat $15-20 million and he gets another $10 million from side income. Therefore, he earns over $25 million per year, and it’s only going to go up from there.
MrBeast attracts a very broad audience. He isn’t a niche YouTube channel whereby he only specializes in makeup, gaming, etc. Because his channel is so broad it attracts people from all sorts of interests which is great news for ads. When you watch MrBeast you will get an ad targeted to you and for many people, it’s usually an ad to do with technology, cars, clothes, etc. These ads pay big money. YouTubers get paid between $2 to $7 per 1000 people monetized views after YouTube takes its cut. Therefore, one of his recent videos “I ate $100,000 gold ice-cream” made him around $170,000 which is a heck of a lot of money.
Socialblade states he has estimated monthly earnings of $116,000 to over $2 million per month. They also estimate that per year MrBeast earns between $1.35 million to over $22 million from YouTube. In December 2020 he gained over 2.6 million subscribers.
Mr. Beast Burger is His Newest Venture
Mr Beast’s recent big thing is that he has done most recently was MrBeast burger. What is MrBeast burger? It’s a restaurant with no kitchens. Instead, existing restaurants make the MrBeast burger, and then it’s delivered to people via Uber eats, Door Dash, etc. People place the order via the MrBeast Burger app which became one of the most downloaded apps last year. He also made a YouTube video whereby he paid people to eat at his restaurant. In the video, he can be seen dishing out free iPods and cash to people. That video became very popular, so popular in fact that he teamed up with Dining Concepts to make a “virtual restaurant.” Mr Beast is essentially drop shipping burgers. Existing kitchens choose to make the MrBeast Burger which is then delivered under the MrBeast name to consumers. The kitchens themselves get paid and MrBeast burger takes a cut.
MrBeast Burger is now available in 30 major markets including Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia. Tampa and Boston. There are over 300 restaurants signed up too. The MrBeast menu includes things like crinkle-cut fries, smashed juicy burgers, and Nashville hot chicken sandwiches. On the first night of commerce, all restaurants sold out due to demand.
MrBeast is also quite charitable and is known for donating money and other luxuries to people in need. he is a pretty good guy and he doesn’t just keep all that money to himself. In most videos, he is always giving something away whether it’s a phone or a Lamborghini. His videos titled “giving away things for free” always is a heart warmer as the recipients (who are not actors) are always very grateful and happy to receive their items.
MrBeast has dominated the YouTube world and people like Jake Paul etc are beginning to respect him hugely. In fact, Paul drove all the way to his house in Greenville North Carolina. Paul lives in Los Angeles. MrBeast has also interacted with fans quite well via gaming events etc.
MrBeast deserves all of his success as he is a great guy. He excelled in YouTube as he went outside the box. Moved out of his comfort zone and he creates wild content that appeals to everyone. His merch is pretty good too. In the future MrBeast may have his own TV show, who knows?
